For my next artistic initiative,
I am heading for the Indian Ocean isle of Mauritius,
thanks to the Fulbright Commision and the US Department of State.
Inspired by dance, music, poetry and medicinal practices known locally as magic or spirtual healing, I will be making art works that celebrate the creative methods used on the island to resist oppression and carve space for freedom.
