For my next artistic initiative,
I am heading for the Indian Ocean isle of Mauritius,
thanks to the Fulbright Commision and the US Department of State.
Inspired by dance, music, poetry and medicinal practices known locally as sorcery, I will be making art works that celebrate the creative methods used on the island for generations to resist oppression and carve a space for freedom.
