Project Info

Inspired by a trip to New Orleans, I began researching Creole communities that dot the globe. I learned of non-violent methods used in these societies to challenge the oppression of slavery, indentured servitude and its legacy. To continue my research, I am living on the isle of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean investigating dance, music, poetry, plays and the stories, traditions and archeological findings of escaped slaves and indentured servants. FreeForm illuminates the contemporary expression of these powerful traditions to learn from our collective past and carve paths for peace in the future.
